Outpatient Care for Teens in Atlanta, GA
Some teens need more support than a weekly therapy session can provide, but they don’t need around-the-clock inpatient care. PHP is designed to fill that space.
Meeting Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the program allows your teen to attend school during the day and return home each evening. It’s a structured, clinically intensive option that fits around the routines that matter.
Treatment may begin within 24 hours of admission approval, so your family doesn’t have to wait long to get help.
What the Program Includes
The Adolescent PHP at Anchor Hospital brings together multiple layers of care in a consistent, professionally led setting.
- Daily group therapy: Teens participate in professionally facilitated group sessions each day, building coping skills, practicing emotion regulation and connecting with peers who understand what they’re going through.
- Bi-weekly family therapy: Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. Family therapy sessions are built into the program to strengthen communication, address concerns and support your teen’s progress together.
- Weekly medication management: The program psychiatrist meets with patients weekly to evaluate and monitor medications, adjusting as needed to support each teen’s mental health.
- Meals included: Dinner and an evening snack are provided each night, so your teen is supported throughout the program hours.
- Transportation assistance: Transportation is available for families within a 10-mile radius of the facility, reducing one more barrier to consistent attendance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the adolescent PHP designed for?
The program serves teens ages 13 to 17 who need more structured mental health support than traditional outpatient care provides, but don’t require 24-hour inpatient hospitalization. It can also serve as a step-down option following an inpatient stay.
Will my teen be able to keep going to school?
Yes. The program runs Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., so teens can attend school during the day and participate in treatment in the evenings without disrupting their academic routine.
How is family involved in treatment?
Family therapy is a built-in part of the program, offered twice per week. The clinical team sees family involvement as a meaningful part of your teen’s progress, not an add-on.
What if I’m not sure this is the right level of care?
That’s what the Level-of-Care Assessment is for. A member of the clinical team will talk with you about your teen’s current concerns, history and needs, then provide a recommendation based on that conversation. There’s no obligation to proceed, and no question is too small to ask.
Does Anchor Hospital accept insurance?
Anchor Hospital accepts a range of insurance plans, including TRICARE. For specific coverage questions, call 404-470-9500 and a team member can help clarify your options.
